Changes to train times

Watford Junction - Station lifts closed for essential upgrades

Watford Junction station lifts are closing for essential upgrades from 28 October until February 2020.

Network Rail are building new lifts at Watford Junction station, to improve access and to make them more reliable for passengers.

To prevent longer term disruption to customers and to get this work finished as quickly as possible, all three lifts will be improved at the same time, meaning that all lifts will be out of use for passengers over this time.

Anyone who needs step-free access to trains should book assisted travel in advance with London Northwestern Railway by calling them on 0800 024 8997 or via the Passenger Assist page on their website.

Information for passengers that require step-free access and passenger assistance during this work:

Platforms with step-free access:

  • Step free access will still be available for passengers using platforms 1-6. This includes London Overground services between Watford Junction and London Euston.
  • Platforms 9-10 can be accessed through the adjoining car park, with a shuttle taxi service to the main station ticket hall.

Passengers travelling from the south on services due to arrive on platforms 7/8 (Some services from London Euston /East Croydon/Clapham):

  • Advice is to instead catch a London Overground service to Watford Junction, or there is an hourly London Northwestern Railway service which arrives on platform 6 at Watford Junction.

Passengers travelling from the north on services due to arrive on platforms 7/8: (Some services from Crewe/Birmingham/Milton Keynes/Northampton)

  • Advice is to change trains at Milton Keynes for a service which arrives on platform 9 at Watford Junction. Taxis will be provided if no appropriate service is available.

Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys while this work is carried out and to plan ahead on the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner.
