Description

Engineering work is taking place in the London Kings Cross area, closing all lines to / from London Kings Cross.

Great Northern and Thameslink:

No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross. Customers are advised not to travel on routes where trains are not running.

A revised train service will run between:

  • Letchworth Garden City and Cambridge / Kings Lynn
  • Biggleswade and Peterborough

A limited replacement bus service will run between:

  • Letchworth Garden City and Luton Airport Parkway (for Thameslink services to / from London)
  • Stevenage and Luton Airport Parkway
  • Hitchin and Biggleswade
  • Hitchin and Potters Bar
  • Potters Bar and Oakwood (London Underground station for connections to / from London)
  • Hatfield and St Albans (for Thameslink connections to / from London).

Additional Travel Information

If you are travelling to / from Biggleswade, please note that this station does not have step-free access. Customers who require step-free access should speak to a member of Great Northern station staff or contact the Great Northern Assisted Travel team on 0800 058 2488 who will be happy to help. 

Buses will run a limited service, with no overnight buses running. Valid tickets can be used on London Underground services between Cockfosters / Oakwood and London.

Please note that Greater Anglia trains that normally run between Stratford and Bishops Stortford are extended to run to / from Cambridge.  

Grand Central:

No Grand Central services will run on Saturday or Sunday. Grand Central will not provide any alternative travel options.

Hull Trains:

A reduced service will run between Hull and Doncaster only. Customers are advised not to travel to / from London.

LNER:

LNER trains will operate an amended timetable, trains will not run south beyond St Neots, other services may start / terminate at other locations or be cancelled. Customers are advised not to travel.

Project Information:

London Kings Cross station currently carries 33.8 million passengers per year, and is a major hub for both local and long distance train services. Major upgrade work will take place, upgrading and simplifying the track layout around the station for the first time in 40 years. Two new lines will also be added, increasing the number of services that can run to / from the station, as well as allowing for faster train services.
