National Rail’s Chief Environment Officers

Meet the CEOs, who are championing sustainable travel by train around Great Britain

About the CEOs

In 2022 we ran a competition to find National Rail’s Chief Environment Officers. Their role was to ditch the car, discover Great Britain’s hidden gems and film their experiences to inspire others to make green journeys by train.

The judges – explorer and broadcaster Simon Reeve and travel vloggers Wanderlust Chloe and An Adventurous World – chose 3 amazing winners.

Demario Green

Demario has always had a passion for travel and transportation and is a huge advocate of sustainable travel. He has a particularly keen interest in new technological advancements for the transport system

Gabby Secomb-Flegg

Gabby is originally from Australia, but now lives in Scotland. She is passionate about championing positive, sustainable travel, as a self-described wild-swimming, castle-chasing, Munroe-hiking Scotland enthusiast!

Sophia King

Sophia has always been a fan of train travel and its sustainable qualities. Her goal as Chief Environment Officer is to share information about sustainability with the next generation and influence them to travel in a greener way

So far, the CEO’s have travelled to Cornwall in the south, Edinbugh in the north, and many more places inbetween.

See the videos below for some of their eco-friendly adventures, and follow National Rail’s YouTube channel for all the updates.
