Paddington station is located on Praed Street, London W2 1HQ.

The magnificent Victorian terminal sits in the Paddington area of the City of Westminster, in the heart of west London. The station complex is bounded at the front by Praed Street and at the rear by Bishop’s Bridge Road, with Eastbourne Terrace running along the west side.

It’s easily accessible from various parts of the capital and serves as a key hub for both National Rail and London Underground services.

What are the main destinations served by train from Paddington station?

Trains from Paddington Station go to the South and South West of England, with services operated by GWR, the Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth line.

Elizabeth line trains go through central London and head west to Heathrow and Reading, or east to Abbey Wood and Shenfield. Other travel options from Paddington include:

  • Heathrow Airport: a quick 15-minute journey on the Heathrow Express

  • Bristol: approximately 1 hour 45 minutes

  • Bath: around 1 hour 20 minutes

  • Oxford: roughly 1 hour

  • Cardiff: about 2 hours

  • District line: goes east and west across London

  • Hammersmith & City line: links Hammersmith in the west and Barking in the east

  • In addition, Lancaster Gate station on the Central line is just a short walk away to the south

The station has high street names like WHSmith, Oliver Bonas and Boots, offering everything from travel essentials to clothing and cosmetics, as well as M&S and Sainsburys for groceries.

There’s also a Paddington Bear gift shop for all kinds of souvenirs.

What places to eat are inside Paddington Station?

There are plenty of dining options, including Pret a Manger and Starbucks for coffee; Burger King, The Pasty Shop, Leon and Wasabi for food; and The Mad Bishop & Bear for pub grub and drinks.

Places of interest near Paddington station

Just next to the station is the canalside Merchant Square development, in the Paddington Basin area, with even more shopping, dining and activities.

The famous Hyde Park is just a 10-minute walk from Paddington station. Or, you can stroll to the Regent’s Canal and the picturesque neighbourhood of Little Venice, go to Regent’s Park, shop on Oxford Street, or visit the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum, where penicillin was discovered, which is located inside St Mary’s Hospital.
