What to do in Leeds

This former Victorian mill district is a refreshing marriage of the past and present. Since its redevelopment over the past decade and a half, Leeds is a thriving town that not only champions independent shops, food and drink but is an inclusive city that welcomes people from all walks of life, making it a place unique to itself.

Formerly the world’s largest woollen mill, Leeds Industrial Museum looks at the city’s industrial heritage and trades that shaped the town with a collection of machinery and equipment used during the period for textiles, clothing, printing and engineering. It also houses a cosy 24 seat cinema dating back to the 1920s where you can watch a series of short films.

Whether you’re after some traditional British fare, fine dining or fancy grabbing a quick bite while you’re out and about, you will never find yourself short with the number of tasty things to eat. Leeds has a fantastic independent food and drink scene with a number of food and drink festivals running all year round!

Shopping is an experience in itself with a number of shops housed in stunning listed buildings. A beautiful fusion of past and present, Victoria Leeds is the place to go for luxury brands - just make sure you look up to see Europe’s largest stained glass window. For more independent, vintage and unique buys, the Corn Exchange or the Grand Arcade is great for finds that aren’t on the High Street.

Leeds has a fantastic LGBTQ+ nightlife with The Freedom Quarter boasting plenty of LGBTQ+ venues, bars and clubs with a welcoming atmosphere.
