What to do in Eastbourne

A lively resort town on the south east coast with beautiful Victorian architecture, Eastbourne has a lot to offer by way of traditional seaside fun, history and culture. With fantastic travel links to other cities, the station is a 15-minute walk to the pier.

Opened in 1870 before its completion in 1872, Eastbourne Pier is one of the iconic landmarks in the town. Home to a variety of shops, cafes, and a chippy, as well as Victorian Tea Rooms and even a nightclub, there is always a reason to visit the pier and enjoy the views any time of day.

Eastbourne Redoubt is a coastal defence fort built during the Napoleonic Era to keep Napoleon’s armies out and was also used during the First and Second World Wars. It is one of the 3 surviving Redoubts in the UK and is open to the public to explore.

For those who are into the arts, there is a great selection of independent and contemporary galleries displaying local talent and touring exhibitions. There are also plenty of live shows and performances running throughout the year across Eastbourne’s 5 theatres.
