Saturday 29 November to Sunday 7 December:

Buses will replace trains between:

  • Ayr and Stranraer

Due to road access limitations, a minibus service will run between Girvan and Stranraer, serving Barrhill and connecting with the main bus services to / from Ayr.

Sunday 30 November:

Buses will replace trains between Kilwinning and Ayr.

Due to road access at Barassie, a minibus service will run between Irvine and Barassie, connecting with the main bus service at Irvine.

Background information:

More than £1m is being invested in the Stranraer railway line as Network Rail carries out essential improvements aimed at delivering more reliable journeys for passengers.

Teams will carry out vital drainage upgrades along key sections of track, using over 2,000 tonnes of materials to help prevent flooding and keep services running reliably. Markdhu No. 1 Level Crossing will also be upgraded, and structures and embankments will be inspected.

More details on this project are available on the Network Rail website.
