Description
Engineering work is taking place between Caerphilly and Rhymney, closing all lines. Background information on this work can be found below.
Buses will replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney on all days, apart from Saturday 19 April and Saturday 10 May. On these days, a normal service will operate apart from a few early morning buses, which will replace train services.
Background Information:
The Rhymney line is being upgraded as part of the next phase of the South Wales Metro. An intensive 8-month programme of engineering work is underway on the upper Rhymney line, from Caerphilly to Rhymney station.
This work will allow for the introduction of brand new tri-mode trains onto the Rhymney line, powered by electricity from the overhead lines, battery and diesel. These trains will deliver improved comfort, accessibility and reliability.
More details on the Rhymney line transformation can be found on the Transport for Wales website.
