Description

Engineering work is taking place between Selby and Micklefield / Church Fenton, closing all lines. Background information on the work can be found below.

Northern:

Trains between:

York and Hull and beyond: Train services will be diverted via an alternative route between Selby and York and will not call at Sherburn-in-Elmet, Church Fenton and Ulleskelf.

York and Sheffield: Train services will not run.

Hull and Halifax / Leeds : Train services will run between Leeds and Halifax, and between Hull and Selby.

Buses will be provided between:

• Selby and York

• York and Moorthorpe

• Selby and Micklefield

Train services are available between Moorthorpe and Sheffield.

TransPennine Express:

TransPennine Express will operate the following services between:

Saturday to Monday:

• Liverpool Lime Street and Leeds

• Selby and Hull

• Manchester Piccadilly and Wakefield Kirkgate

• Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle

• Manchester Victoria and Scarborough

• Manchester Airport and Redcar Central

Rail replacement buses will operate between:

• Selby and Leeds

For travel between York and Wakefield Kirkgate, you can use your ticket at no extra cost on Northern services via Leeds.

Background information:

Network Rail will be carrying out an £800,000 investment in Brotherton Bridge over the August bank holiday weekend. The bridge has carried trains across the River Aire since the mid-19th century.

The track support system across Brotherton Bridge will be renewed by replacing ageing sections with modern fibre-reinforced components, enabling the continued safe use of this section of line. Repairs and repainting work will also be carried out on the bridge while scaffolding remains in place.

Also taking place over the bank holiday weekend will be the renewal of 1.4km of track at Sherburn-in-Elmet for smoother, more reliable journeys.
