Northern between Wigan Wallgate / Manchester Victoria and Leeds

TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Hull / Newcastle / Edinburgh and also Manchester Victoria and Redcar Central; Huddersfield and Leeds

Description

Engineering work is taking place between Dewsbury and Deighton, closing all lines. Background information on this major project can be found below.

Northern:

Buses will replace trains between Leeds and Halifax via Dewsbury / Brighouse.

TransPennine Express:

Trains will not run via Dewsbury.

An amended train service will run between:

  • Leeds and Hull

  • York and Scarborough

  • Manchester Victoria and Redcar Central via Normanton

  • 2 hourly train service between Manchester Piccadilly and York (unable to call at Normanton)

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle via Normanton (calling additionally at Lea Green and Northallerton

Replacement buses will run between:

  • Huddersfield and Leeds

  • Dewsbury and Leeds

  • Huddersfield and Brighouse

  • Manchester Airport and Huddersfield

Background Information:

This work is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) project. The TRU is a transformative, multi-billion pound railway programme that will better connect passengers in the North between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York. TRU will transform the Transpennine main line into a high-performing, reliable railway, bringing more frequent, more reliable, faster, greener trains.

During this week, major improvement works will take place which will include bridge work and drainage improvements.
