Description

Engineering work is taking place between Didcot Parkway and Chippenham, closing some lines.

​​​​​​Trains between London Paddington and Swansea (some beyond to / from Carmarthen) will divert between Reading and Bristol Parkway, not calling Didcot Parkway and Swindon. They will call additionally at Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads before continuing to / from Bristol Parkway. The service will be reduced to hourly over most of the route. Most trains will depart London Paddington and Reading earlier than normal.

At Bath Spa: calls for most diverted trains from Carmarthen / Swansea to London Paddington will be to pick up only.

Trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads (and beyond) will divert between Reading and Bath Spa, not calling Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. The service will be reduced to hourly over most of the route. Most trains will depart London Paddington and Reading earlier than normal. A shuttle rail service will operate between Chippenham, Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

Trains between London Paddington / Swindon and Cheltenham Spa will operate between Swindon and Cheltenham Spa only.

Trains between Swindon and Westbury (some beyond) will start / terminate Chippenham, and will be retimed.

Road Transport will operate between:

  • Reading and Swindon taking 65-70 minutes.

  • Didcot Parkway and Swindon taking 55-60 minutes.

  • Swindon and Bristol Parkway taking 55-60 minutes.

  • Swindon and Chippenham taking 40 minutes.

Some road journey times slightly reduced early morning / late evening.
