Description
Engineering work is taking place between Stalybridge and Mirfield and also between Huddersfield and Lockwood, closing some lines. Background information on the work can be found below.
Northern:
Saturday:
An amended train service will run between Manchester Victoria and Todmorden, and between Halifax and Leeds (via Dewsbury).
Saturday and Sunday:
Trains between Manchester Victoria and Leeds via Bradford Interchange will run to an amended timetable.
Trains between Huddersfield and Sheffield will be replaced by buses between Huddersfield and Lockwood.
A few early morning / late night buses will be extended to run between Huddersfield and Penistone.
TransPennine Express:
TransPennine Express services will be diverted via Todmorden and will not call at Mossley, Greenfield, Marsden, Slaithwaite or Huddersfield. They will additionally call at Brighouse.
The following train plan will operate between:
Manchester Victoria - Redcar Central (additionally calling at Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Sowerby Bridge on Saturday only)
Manchester Airport - Redcar Central (Sunday only)
Manchester Airport - Stalybridge (Saturday only)
Manchester Piccadilly - Stalybridge (Sunday only)
Liverpool Lime Street - Newcastle
Leeds - Hull
Manchester Victoria - Scarborough
Wakefield Kirkgate - York
Rail replacement buses will operate between:
Huddersfield to Stalybridge - every 30 minutes
Huddersfield to Stalybridge calling at Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield, Mossley and Stalybridge - every 30 minutes - (One an hour extends to Guide Bridge on Sunday only)
Huddersfield to Brighouse - every 15 minutes
Huddersfield to Wakefield Kirkgate calling at Deighton and Mirfield - every hour
Background information:
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) project is a multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements which will bring better journeys to customers travelling across the Pennines between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.
Major Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) improvement works are taking place at Huddersfield station over several weekends between June and August, including 1 and 2 August. During this time, TRU will:
Install a section of the new station roof
Tarmac the new platform extensions at the Leeds-end of the station
Install and test the new lifts
Extend the new footbridge and the existing subway
