Description

Engineering work is taking place between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria, closing some lines. Background information on the work can be found below.

Northern:

Replacement buses will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria.

An amended train service will run between Manchester Victoria and Chester, and between Leeds and Rochdale.

Trains that normally run between Stalybridge and Wigan North Western / Southport will be amended to run between Manchester Victoria and Wigan North Western / Southport only. Alternative train services will run between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria.

TransPennine Express:

Train services to / from Huddersfield will diverted to run to / from Manchester Piccadilly instead of Manchester Victoria, and will run to an amended timetable between:

  • Manchester Piccadilly - Redcar Central

  • Manchester Piccadilly - Newcastle

  • Manchester Piccadilly - Hull

  • Manchester Piccadilly - York

  • York - Scarborough

  • Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester Victoria

Background information:

Network Rail engineering teams will be completing important work on signalling equipment in the Monsall area of Manchester between Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July.

It comes ahead of the construction of a new turnback on the railway outside of Manchester Victoria, which will reduce congestion, give train operators more flexibility, and free up space for trains at the station. More industry comment on this work can be found on the Network Rail website.
