Vital signalling equipment work: amended services between Rochdale / Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria from Monday 29 June to Friday 3 July

Description

Engineering work is taking place between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria, closing some lines. Background information on the work can be found below.

Northern:

Replacement buses will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria.

An amended train service will run between Leeds and Rochdale.

No trains will run between Manchester Victoria and Chester. You should instead use alternative Northern / Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly and Chester.

Trains that normally run between Stalybridge and Wigan North Western / Southport will be amended to run between Manchester Victoria and Wigan North Western / Southport only. You can use your ticket on TransPennine Express services between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria at no extra cost.

Additionally, if you're travelling between Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester, you can use your ticket at no extra cost on Bee Network buses on routes 216, 219, 230, 231, 237, and 348.

If you are travelling to / from stations between Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley Manchester Road, Todmorden, Rochdale and Manchester Victoria, then you should check train times as these may be different from usual.

Manchester Piccadilly - Hadfield / Rose Hill / Hazel Grove:

As a result of the engineering work, there will be some minor timetable and station call changes on trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Hadfield / Rose Hill / Hazel Grove.

The following changes will apply:

• Some Manchester Piccadilly - Rose Hill trains will not stop at Gorton and/or Fairfield

• Some Manchester Piccadilly - Hadfield trains will call additionally at Gorton and/or Fairfield

• The 17:00 Manchester Piccadilly to Hazel Grove train will start from Stockport. Customers should travel on the earlier 16:51 Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton service instead

TransPennine Express:

Train services to / from Huddersfield will diverted to run to / from Manchester Piccadilly instead of Manchester Victoria, and will run to an amended timetable between:

• Manchester Piccadilly - Redcar Central

• Manchester Piccadilly - Newcastle

• Manchester Piccadilly - Hull

• Manchester Piccadilly - York

• York - Scarborough

• Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester Victoria

Background information:

Network Rail engineering teams will be completing important work on signalling equipment in the Monsall area of Manchester between Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July.

It comes ahead of the construction of a new turnback on the railway outside of Manchester Victoria, which will reduce congestion, give train operators more flexibility, and free up space for trains at the station. More industry comment on this work can be found on the Network Rail website.
