Between Middlesbrough and Whitby
Description
Engineering work is taking place at Nunthorpe, between Middlesbrough and Battersby, closing all lines. Background information on the work taking place can be found below.
Buses will replace trains between Middlesbrough and Whitby.
Background information:
A full renewal of Nunthorpe level crossing is required in order to enhance safety for pedestrians, motorists and rail passengers. The upgrade will see the life-expired crossing replaced by Network Rail. A new sliding barrier will be installed, with a modern operating system added and the road resurfaced with a new layout.
The changes will provide rail passengers with more reliable journeys as well as giving road users a smoother ride over the crossing surface. More details on this project are available on the Network Rail website.
