Description
Engineering work is taking place between Newtown and Machynlleth, closing all lines for several days (background information on this work can be found below).
From 18:00 on Friday 21 March until 06:00 on Thursday 3 April, no trains will run between Newtown and Machynlleth. Service details are as follows:
From 18:00 on Friday 21 March to end of Saturday 29 March:
Trains will operate between Birmingham International and Newtown, calling at all stations including Shrewsbury
Buses will operate between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth
Trains will run between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth
From Sunday 30 March to 06:00 on Thursday 3 April:
Trains will operate between Birmingham International and Shrewsbury
Buses will operate between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth
Trains will run between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth

Background Information:
The line closure will allow a considerable amount of essential renewal and maintenance work to take place. This includes track renewal between Glantwymyn (which is on the line from Caersws) and Machynlleth, embankment strengthening work in the Talerddig area, and a number of key maintenance activities between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth.
