All Great Western Railway routes via Swindon

Description

Engineering work is taking place between Didcot Parkway / Swindon and Chippenham, closing various lines. ​​​​​​​

Saturday:

Trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads (some beyond) will be diverted:

One train per hour will divert between Reading and Bath Spa (via Newbury – not calling).

They will not call Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. Most trains will depart London Paddington and Reading earlier than normal.

One train per hour will divert between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads (via Bristol Parkway – not calling). They will not call Chippenham and Bath Spa. Some trains will depart Bristol Temple Meads a few minutes earlier than normal.

A (2 hourly) shuttle rail service will operate between Chippenham, Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

A replacement bus service will operate between Swindon and Chippenham taking 40 minutes (35 minutes late evening).

Trains between Swindon and Westbury will start / terminate Chippenham. Some will operate in revised timings.

A replacement bus service will operate between Swindon and Chippenham taking 40 minutes (35 minutes late evening).

Sunday:

Trains between London Paddington and Swansea (some beyond to / from Carmarthen) will divert between Reading and Bristol Parkway, not calling Didcot Parkway and Swindon. They will call additionally at Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads before continuing to / from Bristol Parkway. The service will be reduced to hourly over most of the route. Most trains will depart London Paddington and Reading earlier than normal.

Trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads (and beyond) will divert between Reading and Bath Spa, not calling Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. The service will be reduced to hourly over most of the route. Most trains will depart London Paddington and Reading earlier than normal. A shuttle rail service will operate between Chippenham, Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

Trains between London Paddington / Swindon and Cheltenham Spa will operate between Swindon and Cheltenham Spa only.

A replacement bus service will operate between:

  • Reading and Swindon taking 65-70 minutes.

  • Didcot Parkway and Swindon taking 55-60 minutes.

  • Swindon and Bristol Parkway taking 55-60 minutes.

  • Swindon and Chippenham taking 40 minutes.

Some road journey times slightly reduced early morning / late evening.

Trains between Swindon and Westbury (some beyond) will start / terminate Chippenham. Some will operate to revised timings.

A replacement bus service will operate between Swindon and Chippenham taking, 40 minutes.

As a result of diversions, trains to / from Portsmouth Harbour will be retimed in the Westbury area to run slightly later than usual.
