Thursday 30 July:
The 23:00 Cardiff Central to Treherbert service will terminate at Pontypridd. A replacement bus will depart at 23:40 to Treherbert.
Friday 31 July to Thursday 6 August:
Buses will replace trains between Pontypridd and Treherbert.
Friday 7 to Saturday 15 August:
The engineering work will be extended to Radyr, meaning that buses will replace trains between:
Radyr and Treherbert
Radyr and Aberdare
Radyr and Merthyr Tydfil
Additionally there will be an all day bus shuttle between Abercynon and Mountain Ash due to the fact that Penrhiwceiber station is inaccessible to standard rail replacement vehicles.
Background information:
Major rail upgrades as part of the South Wales Metro will be taking place this summer to deliver faster and more frequent services.
The extensive work will require a two-week closure across the Treherbert line and a one-week closure on the Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil lines.
The closure will allow Transport for Wales to carry out rail upgrades; relaying track at Pontypridd station, track and drainage improvements on the Treherbert line, and level boarding at Pentre-Bach station.
Project information is available on the Transport for Wales website.
