Description

Engineering work is taking place between Leeds and York / Selby, closing some lines. Background information on this work can be found below.

CrossCountry:

No CrossCountry trains will operate between Leeds and York via Micklefield.

A very limited and much reduced service will run between Leeds and York via Castleford, with extended journey times.

A reduced service will call at Wakefield Westgate and Leeds.

Tickets between Leeds and York can be used on all train operators at no extra cost.

Northern:

All day Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 and until 11:30 Monday 29 December:

Trains between Blackpool North and York will only run between Blackpool North and Leeds.

Trains between York and Hull / Bridlington will run between Selby and Hull / Bridlington only.

Trains between York and Sheffield will not run. Trains will run between Moorthorpe and Sheffield.

Trains between Leeds and York via Garforth will not run.

Trains between Halifax and Selby / Hull will run between Halifax and Leeds only.

Buses will run between Leeds and York / Selby and between York and Selby / Moorthorpe.

From 11:30 Monday 29 December to Friday 2 January

Trains between Blackpool North and York will only run between Blackpool North and Leeds.

Trains between York and Hull / Bridlington will be diverted via an alternative route between York and Selby and will not call at Ulleskelf, Church Fenton and Sherburn-in-Elmet.

Trains between York and Sheffield will not run. Trains will run between Moorthorpe and Sheffield.

Trains between Leeds and York will run between Leeds and Micklefield only.

Buses will be provided between Micklefield and York and between York and Selby / Moorthorpe.

Trains between Halifax / Leeds and Selby / Hull will run as normally advertised.

Saturday 3 January to Sunday 25 January:

Buses will replace trains between Micklefield and York.

TransPennine Express:

Due to Transpennine Route Upgrade improvement works between Leeds and York / Selby, TransPennine Express services will divert and run to amended timetables:

Background information:

Upgrade work along the route between Leeds and York will continue over the Christmas period to help deliver a faster, greener and more reliable railway.

The signalling and telecommunications systems between Leeds and Church Fenton will be replaced, with a total of 54 new signals, supporting infrastructure and a brand new power supply installed, tested and brought into use. This significant improvement work is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.
