Description

Engineering work is taking place between Marsden and Mirfield, closing various lines from Saturday to Monday.

Northern:

Saturday and Monday:

Rail replacement buses will operate between Penistone / Lockwood and Huddersfield.

Trains will continue to operate between Sheffield and Penistone / Lockwood.

Sunday:

Rail replacement buses will operate between Huddersfield / Dewsbury and Halifax.

Trains will operate between Sheffield and Huddersfield as normally advertised.

TransPennine Express:

On Saturday and Monday, no trains will call at Huddersfield. Trains between Manchester Victoria and Dewsbury will be diverted to call at Brighouse. On Sunday only a very limited service will operate to / from Huddersfield.

TransPennine Express customers may be further impacted by engineering work in the Northallerton area.

The following train plan will operate:

Saturday only:

  • Manchester Victoria and Scarborough (additionally calling at Castleton)

  • Manchester Victoria and York (additionally calling at Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge)

  • Liverpool Lime Street and York

  • Leeds and Hull

  • Wakefield Kirkgate and York

  • Manchester Airport and Stalybridge

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Marsden

  • Northallerton and Newcastle

Sunday only:

  • Liverpool Lime Street and Huddersfield

  • Manchester Airport and Huddersfield

  • Leeds and Scarborough

  • Dewsbury and York

  • Dewsbury and Hull

  • Wakefield Kirkgate and York

  • Leeds and York

  • Northallerton and Newcastle

Replacement buses will run as follows:

Saturday and Monday:

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield (non-stop)

  • Stalybridge and Huddersfield, calling at Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield and Mossley

  • Marsden and Huddersfield calling at Slaithwaite

  • Huddersfield and Brighouse

  • Huddersfield and Wakefield Kirkgate, calling at Deighton and Mirfield

Sunday:

  • Huddersfield to Leeds

  • Huddersfield to Dewsbury

  • Huddersfield to Wakefield Kirkgate (calling at Deighton, Mirfield, and Dewsbury)

The following train plan will operate:

Monday only:

  • Manchester Victoria and Scarborough (additionally calling at Castleton)

  • Manchester Victoria and York (additionally calling at Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge)

  • Leeds and Hull

  • Wakefield Kirkgate and York

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield

Background information:

Transpennine Route Upgrade rail engineering work will be undertaken throughout May and June, with significant disruption expected between Huddersfield and Leeds.

The closures will enable the safe delivery of critical infrastructure upgrades, including track and drainage renewals, bridge works, signalling improvements, and significant station enhancements along the route between Huddersfield and Leeds. This series of upgrade works will help deliver faster, more frequent services on a greener, more reliable railway. More information on this upgrade phase is available from Network Rail.
