Description
Major engineering work is taking place in the Wrexham General area, closing all lines between Bidston and Wrexham General and some lines between Wrexham general and Shrewsbury.
Sunday 16 to Sunday 30 August:
During this time, buses will replace trains between and Bidston and Wrexham General / Central. All buses will be extended to call at Birkenhead North, from where step-free interchange is available with Merseyrail Wirral Line services towards Liverpool city centre stations.
You are advised to check your revised journeys carefully before travelling.
Monday 17 to Sunday 30 August:
Major work will be taking place between Wrexham General and Shrewsbury.
This will significantly affect services between between Chester and Wrexham General, and between North Wales (Holyhead, Llandudno and Llandudno Junction) and Shrewsbury, Birmingham International and Cardiff Central.
During this time, the following general alterations will apply:
Holyhead, Llandudno, Llandudno Junction and Chester to Shrewsbury, Birmingham International and Cardiff Central: These services will be diverted via Crewe with revised journey times and timetables.
Crewe / Chester and Wrexham General: Services between Crewe and Wrexham General will typically operate to a reduced frequency (1 train per hour) and terminate at Chester; Rail replacement bus connections are available at Wrexham General towards Shrewsbury (see below)
Chester and Shrewsbury via Wrexham General, Ruabon, Chirk and Gobowen: Buses replace trains between Wrexham General and Shrewsbury, with some services extending to and from Chester
Customers for stations along this stretch of line between Crewe, Nantwich, Wrenbury, Whitchurch (Shropshire), Prees, Wem and Yorton, are asked to check their revised journeys carefully, as many trains will run at different times to usual, with amended connections at Crewe and Shrewsbury.
