Middle East Crisis – Rail Customers Travelling to/from Airports in Great Britain
What is the Middle East travel policy?
To help those travelling to/from British airports for travel to/from the Middle East who have had their travel plans altered, a new policy is in place to carry over existing rail tickets.
In order to make use of this policy, you will need to show proof of travel to/from the following Middle Eastern countries:
Bahrain
Iran
Iraq
Israel
Jordan
Kuwait
Lebanon
Oman
Qatar
Saudi Arabia
Syria
United Arab Emirates
Proof of travel includes documents such as a flight ticket, cancellation notification, rebooking confirmation or rescheduling notification.
Arriving in Great Britain
If you have an existing rail ticket from a British airport or nearest airport-serving railway station and landed on a different/time date to the one you were expecting, you can use your existing ticket to travel on the day that your flight arrives in Great Britain. If it’s too late to travel on the day you arrive, you can travel on the next day too.
If you have an existing rail ticket from a British airport or nearest airport-serving railway station and landed at a different airport than you originally planned to, you can use your existing ticket to travel on the day that your flight arrives in Great Britain. If it’s too late to travel on the day you arrive, you can travel on the next day too.
Leaving Great Britain
If you have an existing rail ticket to a British airport or nearest airport-serving railway station and your flight to the Middle East has been cancelled or moved to a different day, you will be eligible for a full refund with no admin fees.
Please contact the company you purchased your ticket from to arrange this.
Tickets involving crossing London
Tickets valid on London Underground and DLR services will be valid for these specific services only on the date shown on the ticket. If you travel on an alternative date, you will need to purchase a separate ticket or pay as you go (contactless or Oyster) for the London Underground or DLR segment of the journey. You will not be able to use London Buses or London Trams as an alternative on any day; nor use London Underground or DLR outside of the valid route and on the date shown as noted above.
