Trains between Helensburgh Central / Milngavie and Edinburgh, and also between Airdrie and Balloch

Description

A fault with the signalling system between Airdrie and Caldercruix means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Airdrie will be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Trains cannot run between Airdrie and Bathgate and you will need to use the rail replacement buses operating between these stations.

Major disruption is expected until 09:00.

Service impact:

  • Services between Milngavie and Edinburgh will not run

  • Services between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh will be revised to run between Helensburgh Central and Dalmuir and between Bathgate and Edinburgh only

  • Services between Balloch and Airdrie can run but may be disrupted

Customer advice:

Rail replacement transport has been requested to run between Bathgate and Airdrie. The following is confirmed:

  • One full size City Circle bus at Bathgate, ETA 07:30

ScotRail are working to introduce further rail replacement transport but as they have very limited alternative transport secured at present, you may wish to consider making your own travel arrangements.

You can use your ticket, at no additional cost, on ScotRail services via any alternative route to your destination.

If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

For helpful advice if you need to travel on a rail replacement service, including accessibility and bicycle information, please use our Rail Replacement Services page.

You can find the pick-up and drop-off location of rail replacement services by checking station signage or by searching for your station on our Find a Station page.

Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
