Between Headbolt Lane and Blackburn, and also between Wigan Wallgate and Todmorden

Description

A points failure between Hindley and Salford Crescent means some lines are blocked.

As a result, trains running between Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent via Atherton may be delayed, cancelled, diverted or revised.

Disruption is expected to continue until 13:00.

Train services are unable to run between Hindley and Salford Crescent via Atherton (in both directions).

Services on the following routes will be diverted and will not call at Daisy Hill, Hag Fold, Atherton, Walkden, Moorside and Swinton:

  • Between Headbolt Lane and Blackburn

  • Between Wigan Wallgate and Todmorden

Northern services on the following routes are not affected:

  • Between Southport and Manchester Oxford Road

  • Between Southport and Stalybridge

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available. Should this disruption continue, then road replacement transport will be requested.

You can also travel on the following Bee Network bus services at no extra cost:

  • V1, V2, 8, 35, 36, 37, 38, 132, 516, 575, 576, 601, 602, 607, 608, 609, 632, 635, 640 and 641

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
