Description

Storm Amy is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain to parts of Scotland and northwest England, with the potential for widespread disruption to rail services today, Friday 3 October.

Yellow weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office.

Network Rail’s specialist weather team are closely monitoring the storm’s path and working with operators to confirm which routes are most likely to be impacted.

  • Due to Flooding between Lockerbie and Carstairs some lines are blocked. As a result trains travelling between Carlisle and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central may be delayed by up to 20 minutes.

Tickets for travel north of Preston on Friday 3 October will be valid throughout Friday to encourage travel earlier in the day.

Destinations north of Preston include Lancaster, Oxenholme Lake District, Penrith, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Haymarket, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh.

​Customers travelling later in the day may experience disruption due to adverse weather conditions.
