Description

A fault on a train at Barnsley means the line towards Sheffield is blocked. Trains running between Barnsley and Sheffield may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, revised or diverted via Moorthorpe.

Disruption is expected until 09:00.

How does this affect my journey?

At present, the line from Barnsley towards Sheffield is blocked (in this direction only). However, services in both directions will be subject to disruption due to trains having to work around broken unit using the other platform.

Services on the following routes will be affected by this disruption:

  • Between Sheffield and Leeds via Barnsley

  • Between Sheffield and Huddersfield

  • Between Lincoln Central / Nottingham and Leeds

  • Between Retford and Leeds

  • Between Chesterfield and Leeds



Northern services between Sheffield and Leeds via Moorthorpe are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport:

Road transport has been requested in case disruption continues. More information will be provided once operators and timings have been confirmed.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.
