Trains between Manchester Airport / Carnforth / Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle, and also between Barrow-in-Furness and Millom

Description

A failure of the electricity supply between Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains between these stations will be cancelled.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Buses are replacing trains between Corkickle and Whitehaven due to unstable ground conditions that required urgent repair. More information about this disruption can be found here.

Rail replacement transport will operate as follows

Barrow-In-Furness - Millom calling at Askam, Kirkiby-In-Furness, Foxfield, Green Road and Millom. Operated by Workington Transport Heritage Trust.

Whitehaven - Barrow-In-Furness calling at Corkickle, St Bee's, Sellafield, Seascale, Drigg, Ravenglass, Bootle, Silecroft, Millom, Green Road, Foxfield, Kirkby-In-Furness, Askam and Barrow-In-Furness.

Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any Northern, TransPennine Express or LNER service within 2 hours before or after your cancelled service was due to depart.
