Route(s) affected

Between Ashford International / Hastings / Ore and Eastbourne, and between Brighton and Hastings / Ore, and between London Victoria and Ore

Description

A problem with the station lighting at Bexhill means that services running towards Hastings are unable to call at Bexhill Station.

This is expected to continue until 22:30.

Customer advice:

Trains towards Hastings, Ore, and Ashford International are currently unable to call at Bexhill. If you are travelling to or from Bexhill you may need to allow an extra 15 minutes to complete your journey.

Trains travelling in the opposite direction towards Eastbourne, Brighton, and London Victoria are unaffected and calling as normal at Platform 1.

If you are travelling on a train towards Hastings, Ore and Ashford International, and you want to alight at Hastings, please continue to St Leonards Warrior Square and change there for a service in the opposite direction.

If you are travelling from Bexhill towards Hastings, please travel in the opposite direction to Collington first, and change for a train to your destination.

For some of these stations, alternative public transport options are also available. You may find these quicker for some journeys, although it will still take longer to get to your destination.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

A local power failure at Bexhill has left platform 2 without lighting.

Because the platform is in darkness, it is unsafe for trains to call and for customers to board or alight. Platform 1 remains powered and operational, which is why London and Brighton-bound services can call as normal.

Local electricity suppliers and station maintenance teams are working to restore the mains power supply and platform lighting as quickly as possible.
