Description

A points failure at Birmingham New Street means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains operating to / from this station may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

CrossCountry customer advice:

To assist you with your journey, your ticket can be used at no extra cost, on the following:

  • West Midlands Railway / London Northwestern Railway services between Stafford and Birmingham New Street (in both directions)

  • West Midlands Metro between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street (in both directions)

Transport for Wales customer advice:

You can use your ticket on West Midlands Railway services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham until further notice, at no extra cost.

Some trains may be able to divert via an alternative route (via Bescot Stadium). This route takes about 10-15 minutes longer than normal.

Trains which are able to divert will not be able to call at Coseley, Tipton, Dudley Port, Sandwell & Dudley, Smethwick Galton Bridge or Smethwick Rolfe Street.

Your tickets can be used until further notice, at no extra cost, on the following:

  • CrossCountry between Stafford and Birmingham New Street

  • West Midlands Railway between Birmingham Snow Hill / Birmingham Moor Street and Smethwick Galton Bridge (Please note: Smethwick Rolfe Street is an 10-15 minute walk from Galton Bridge station)

  • West Midlands Metro services between Birmingham (Grand Central, adjacent New St station) - West Bromwich Central - Wolverhampton (St. Georges, 10 minutes from railway station). Please change at West Bromwich Central for bus route 4, 4H, 4M to / from Sandwell and Dudley station

  • National Express West Midlands routes:

    • 4 / 4H / 4M: Walsall - Tame Bridge Parkway - West Bromwich (for West Midlands Metro) - Oldbury - Blackheath - Sandwell & Dudley - Rowley Regis - Cradley Heath

    • 12 / 12A: Birmingham - Langley Green - Dudley

    • 42: Tipton - Dudley Port (nearby)
