Description

There is points failure at Birmingham New Street, meaning that trains must run at reduced speed on some lines for safety reasons.

As a result, trains operating to / from this station may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

To assist you with your journey, your ticket can be used at no extra cost, on the following:

  • London Northwestern Railway services between Stafford and Birmingham New Street

  • West Midlands Metro between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street

Transport for Wales customer advice:

You can use your ticket on West Midlands Railway services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham at no extra cost.

London Northwestern Railway / West Midlands Railway customer advice:

Some trains may be able to divert via an alternative route (via Bescot Stadium). This route takes about 10-15 minutes longer than normal.

Trains which are able to divert will not call at Coseley, Tipton, Dudley Port, Sandwell & Dudley, Smethwick Galton Bridge or Smethwick Rolfe Street.

  • West Midlands Metro between Birmingham (Grand Central, adjacent to Birmingham New Street station) - West Bromwich Central - Wolverhampton (St. Georges, 10 minutes away from railway station). Please change at West Bromwich Central for bus routes 4, 4H, 4M to / from Sandwell & Dudley station

  • National Express West Midlands routes:

    • 4 / 4H / 4M: Walsall - Tame Bridge Parkway - West Bromwich (for West Midlands Metro) - Oldbury - Blackheath - Sandwell & Dudley - Rowley Regis - Cradley Heath
