Description

Lines have reopened following a safety inspection of the track between Southampton Central and Fareham. Trains are returning to normal but may still be cancelled, revised or delayed.

Disruption is expected until 23:00.

Great Western Railway customer advice:

You may use your ticket at no additional cost on the below operators:

• South Western Railway services between Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour

If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.

Southern customer advice:

Southern services are able to run again to and from Southampton Central following a possible track issue.

While service recovery takes place, your overall journey is still likely to take at least 45 minutes longer and you may need to change trains.

Brighton to Southampton Central services, in both directions, will either:

• Run between Brighton and Bognor Regis

• Run between Brighton and Portsmouth & Southsea

Cosham, Portchester, Swanwick and Woolston will not be served and a limited service will operate between Bognor Regis and Fratton.

You should use South Western Railway services between Havant, Fratton and Southampton Central at no additional cost. You can also use Great Western Railway services between Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour.

South Western Railway customer advice:

Engineers have said the line towards Southampton can reopen, we are just waiting to see if we can run on the other line as well towards Portsmouth and will provide an update shortly.

Long distance and mainline services

Services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh may see delays due to congestion between Eastleigh and Fareham.

South and West local services

Services between Southampton Central and Portsmouth & Southsea may be diverted where possible.

How do I get to my destination?

If you need to travel between Fareham and Southampton Central, you can take a train however it may be signficantly delayed.
