Description
Urgent repairs are needed to a tunnel between Bolton and Blackburn, meaning that all lines are closed. Trains will be revised to not run between these stations.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
How does this affect my journey?
Train services are unable to run between Manchester Victoria and Blackburn (in both directions).
Services between Manchester Victoria and Blackburn via Bolton will start and terminate at Bolton.
Services between Manchester Victoria and Blackburn via Todmorden are not affected by this disruption.
What should I do?
You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.
You can travel on the following Transport for Greater Manchester Bus services at no extra cost:
8, 36, 37, 38, 50, V1, V2, 480, 507, 525, 527, 533, 534, 537, 541, 521, 524 and 471.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Replacement transport:
Road transport has been requested to operate between Manchester Victoria and Blackburn as follows;
A coach operated by Phantom Travel will depart Blackburn at 09:00 calling at stations to Bolton.
A coach operated by Phantom Travel will depart Bolton at 09:10 calling at stations to Blackburn.
Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.
Journey times may be extended by up to 45 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
