Description
Following a trespass incident between Bolton and Preston, all lines have now reopened. As service recovers, trains running between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
This is expected until 12:00.
Northern customer advice:
You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.
Some services will divert via Wigan North Western where possible.
Northern services between Liverpool Lime Street and Blackpool North are not affected.
You can use your ticket to travel on the following services at no extra cost until further notice:
Manchester Metrolink services between Manchester City Centre stations and Manchester City Centre - Manchester Airport in both directions
TransPennine Express services on any reasonable route
Transport for Greater Manchester bus services as follows - 8, 36, 37, 575 and 576
Transport for Wales services between Warrington Central and Manchester Airport in both directions
Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Departing Bolton at 10:30 calling at stations to Preston - operated by Bestway Travel
Departing Preston at 11:00 calling at stations to Bolton - operated by S-Line

Some services may divert around the problem and will not call at Bolton in both directions.
