Description

A tree blocking the railway between Bolton and Darwen means all lines are blocked. As a result, buses will replace trains between Bolton and Blackburn.

Disruption is expected until 10:30.

What's happened?

Services between Bolton and Darwen are being disrupted due to a tree blocking the railway

Network Rail staff are now on site.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Bolton and Blackburn (in both directions).

Services between Clitheroe and Rochdale via Bolton will be affected by this disruption.

Northern services between Blackburn and Headbolt Lane via Todmorden are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Northern tickets may be used at no additional costs onboard the following Bee Network buses:

  • 8, 36, 37, 38, 50, V1, V2, 471, 480, 507, 521, 524, 525, 527, 533, 534, 537, 541

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport will be operated by Oceans Travel & S-Line Coaches between Bolton and Blackburn at XX:10 in both directions.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick-up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 45 minutes whilst travelling by road transport
