Description

A shortage of train drivers between Nottingham and Cardiff Central means fewer trains are able to run. As a result, a reduced service is in operation, and trains on this route may be cancelled or revised.

This is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on the following services and routes:

Between Nottingham and Birmingham New Street:

  • Travel using East Midlands Railway between Nottingham and Derby, and change there for CrossCountry services towards Birmingham New Street

Between Birmingham New Street and Cardiff Central:

  • Travel using CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Bristol Parkway, and change there for Great Western Railway services to Cardiff Central

You do not need to amend your ticket to use it on these services.

Other options:

Road transport is in operation between Derby and Birmingham New Street (operated by Amans Travel and First Choice), and also between Cheltenham Spa and Newport covering the train cancellations in both directions.

These will depart Cheltenham Spa at XX:00 past each hour, and Newport (South Wales) at XX:40 past each hour. These journeys are showing in online journey planners and all road transport is accessible.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

If you will no longer use your ticket as a result of this disruption, then a fee free refund can be obtained by contacting your ticket retailer directly.
