Description

A broken down train between Carlisle and Whitehaven means that some lines are blocked. As a result, trains are unable to run between these stations and will be cancelled or revised to complete only part of their journey.

Disruption is expected until 08:00.

Services between Carlisle and Whitehaven are being disrupted due to a broken down train.

Engineers are on site trying to rectify this problem.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road Transport:

Rail replacement transport has been confirmed to run as follows operated by Workington Transport Heritage Trust:

  • 07:35 from Whitehaven calling at all stations to Carlisle

  • 08:40 from Whitehaven calling at all stations to Harrington then drop off passengers as required to Carlisle

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
