Description

The lines have now reopened between Motherwell and Lanark / Carstairs following a safety inspection of the track, and also near Penrith North Lakes following a lorry striking a bridge. Services are still being affected by a fault with the signalling system near Carlisle, which means trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. As a result, trains that normally run through Carlisle may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

We expect this disruption to continue until 14:00.

Please note, ScotRail are no longer affected by this incident.

You may use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry between Stafford and Coventry (in this direction only)

  • London Northwestern Railway between Crewe and Birmingham New Street (in this direction only)

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
