Description
All lines have now reopened following an earlier points failure between Oxenholme Lake District / Carnforth / Morecambe and Lancaster. Trains running between these stations may continue to be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
If you no longer wish to travel because your train is delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.
Advice for Northern customers:
What's happened?
Services through Lancaster are being disrupted due to a points failure.
How does this affect my journey?
Train services are now able to run through Lancaster (in both directions).
Northern services between Carlisle and Whitehaven are not affected.
What should I do?
You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.
You can also travel on TransPennine Express services at no extra cost between Carlisle and Preston.
Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Replacement transport:
Road transport has been confirmed to run, operated by Mayfair / Bestway as follows:
At 21:00 from Lancaster to Morecambe, calling at Bare Lane and Morecambe
At 21:00 from Morecambe to Lancaster, calling at Bare Lane and Lancaster
Road transport has been requested to run between Windermere and Oxenholme Lake District.
Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.

You can use your tickets at no extra cost on the following services in both directions - please note these services may also affected by this disruption:
Avanti West Coast services between Edinburgh / Glasgow Central and Preston
Northern services between Preston and Manchester Airport in both directions
Alternative TransPennine Express services between Edinburgh / Glasgow Central and Manchester Airport
