Description

A person has been hit by a train between Cheshunt and Hertford East / Stansted Airport. So that the emergency services can safely carry out their work, all lines have been closed.

Trains between these stations may be cancelled or revised as a result.

Greater Anglia are advising that customers do not travel between London Liverpool Street and Hertford East, Cambridge and Stansted Airport until further notice.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Tickets dated for travel today, Tuesday 25 August, will be valid for use tomorrow, Wednesday 26 August.

  • Stansted Express services between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport

  • London Liverpool Street < - > Cambridge North

  • London Liverpool Street < - > Hertford East

  • Stratford < - > Bishops Stortford

  • Stratford < - > Meridian Water

Ticket acceptance:

Please do not travel between London Liverpool Street and Hertford East, Cambridge and Stansted Airport until further notice. If you are unable to postpone your journey, Greater Anglia have arranged for you to be able to use your Greater Anglia / Stansted Express ticket on the following alternatives at no extra cost:

  • Arriva 509 & 510 between Harlow and Stansted Airport

  • Great Northern between Hertford North and Moorgate (Moorgate is a short distance to Liverpool Street via the Elizabeth line platform)

  • CentralConnect 7 & 7A between Bishops Stortford and Stansted Airport

  • CentralConnect H1 & H2 bus routes between Hertford East (Tesco) and Hertford North

  • Great Northern between London Kings Cross and Cambridge

  • London Buses between Liverpool Street and Waltham Cross

  • London Underground:

    • Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines between Liverpool Street and King's Cross St. Pancras

    • Victoria line between Walthamstow Central, Tottenham Hale, Seven Sisters, Finsbury Park and King's Cross St. Pancras

    • Central line between Liverpool Street and Epping

  • All London Overground Weaver line services

  • Thameslink between London St Pancras International and Cambridge

Stansted Express travel advice:

Journeys towards Stansted Airport (approximate journey time up to 2 hours 30 minutes):

  1. From London Liverpool Street, travel on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines to King's Cross St. Pancras

  2. Change for Great Northern services from London Kings Cross to Cambridge

  3. Change at Cambridge for the first available train to Stansted Airport

Journeys towards London Liverpool Street (approximate journey time up to 2 hours 30 minutes):

  1. From Stansted Airport, travel on the first available train to Cambridge

  2. Change at Cambridge for Great Northern trains to London Kings Cross

  3. Travel on travel on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines from King's Cross St. Pancras to Liverpool Street
