Description

An earlier fire next to the track in the Clapham Junction area means some lines are disrupted. As a result, trains between Clapham Junction and London Victoria / Imperial Wharf / Denmark Hill may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 45 minutes, diverted or revised.

Major disruption is expected until 10:00 on Monday 28 September.

South Western Railway services are now able to run as normal.

Gatwick Express / Southern customer advice:

A strongly reduced service is being reinstated to run to / from London Victoria. Travelling now will take at least 60 minutes longer than usual and you may still need to use an alternative route to travel.

Where possible, you are recommend to travelling using alternative Thameslink services to / from London Bridge instead.

How the service has been altered:

• London Victoria / Ore services have been reduced to one train an hour in each direction

• London Victoria / Littlehampton services have been reduced to one train an hour in each direction

• London Victoria / Epsom Downs services have been reduced to one train an hour in each direction

• London Victoria / London Bridge services have been suspended

• London Victoria / Dorking services have been suspended

• London Victoria / Brighton services have been suspended

• Clapham Junction / Watford Junction services have been suspended

• London Victoria / East Grinstead services will run between East Croydon and East Grinstead only

• Gatwick Express services between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport have been suspended

• London Buses between London Victoria, London Bridge and East Croydon

• Southeastern services on any reasonable route towards your destination

• London Overground services between Canada Water and Norwood Junction, as well as between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction

• London Trams between East Croydon and Wimbledon

• South Western Railway services between London Waterloo and Leatherhead via Wimbledon

• Metrobus services on route 281 between Lingfield, Dormans (Station Road) , East Grinstead, Three Bridges, Crawley

• Stagecoach buses on routes:

  • 11 between Worthing, West Worthing, Goring-by-Sea, Littlehampton

  • 700 between Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Fishersgate, Southwick, Shoreham-by-Sea, Lancing (Town), East Worthing, Worthing, West Worthing, Goring-by-Sea (Town), Durrington

You can also travel on rail replacement buses between Tulse Hill and Sutton at no extra cost.

Please note that trains running now will be delayed by at least 45 minutes. Travelling via an alternative route will extend your journey further and you are recommend to allow at least 60 minutes more time to travel.

If you can't complete your journey today:

Tickets dated for today, Sunday 27 September will also be accepted on services tomorrow, Monday 28 September, at no additional cost, however please note that tomorrow's train service is expected to continue being affected by disruption.

If you are planning to travel tomorrow morning, 28 September:

Repair works will be carried out overnight tonight, however, trains will still be displaced across the network once all lines can reopen. This means that we will need to continue to run an amended train service until at least 10:00 tomorrow, Monday 28 September.

Travelling between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction:

You can use London Overground services between Clapham Junction, Willesden Junction and Watford Junction to travel. You can also connect to London Bridge using London Underground services from Willesden Junction, for Thameslink service towards East Croydon.

Travelling between London and Brighton:

We recommend using Thameslink services to/from London Bridge instead. You can use TfL buses and London Underground services to connect between London Victoria and London Bridge at no extra cost.

Travelling to / from stations on the route between London Victoria and London Bridge:

You can use London Overground services between London Bridge and Crystal Palace, and TfL buses to travel to / from stations between Crystal Palace and Clapham Junction.

Travelling between Sutton and Dorking

You can travel between London Waterloo and Leatherhead using South Western Railway services which are running via Wimbledon. This also allows you to connect with Epsom. For journeys to or from Sutton, you can use rail replacement bus services from Tulse Hill.

London Overground customer advice:

Trains between Dalston Junction and Clapham Junction will be diverted to / from Battersea Park and will not call at Clapham Junction.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following alternatives:

• London Buses via any reasonable route

• Southern between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction

• South Western Railway between Vauxhall and Clapham Junction via Queenstown Road Battersea

We've received reports of a fire near the track earlier today, which has lead to disruption to train services to and from London Victoria. The fire has caused damage to signalling equipment on the route and until repairs have been carried out, train services will be unable to run.
