Description

A member of train crew being unavailable between Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle means that trains are unable to run between these stations and will be cancelled or revised from 14:30.

Please note, buses are also replacing trains between Corkickle and Whitehaven.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Services between Barrow-In-Furness and Corkickle in both directions will be cancelled from 14:30 until the end of the day.

The following services are not affected by this disruption in both directions:

  • Manchester Airport/ Lancaster - Barrow-in-Furness services

  • Whitehaven - Carlisle services

Northern tickets may be used at no additional costs onboard TransPennine Express services between Lancaster and Carlisle in both directions from 14:30 until the end of the day.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road Replacement has been recruited and will operate as follows:

Barrow-in-Furness - Corkickle. Calling at Askam, Kirkby-in-Furness, Foxfield, Green Road, Millom, Silecroft, Bootle, Ravenglass for Eskdale, Drigg, Seascale, Sellafield, St Bees and Corkickle:

14:35 / 15:20 / 17:20 / 19:15

Barrow-in-Furness - Millom. Calling at Askam, Kirkby-in-Furness, Foxfield, Green Road and Millom:

20:00 / 21:15

Barrow-in-Furness - Workington. Calling at Askam, Kirkby-in-Furness, Foxfield, Green Road, Millom, Silecroft, Bootle, Ravenglass for Eskdale, Drigg, Seascale, Sellafield, St Bees, Corkickle, Whitehaven, Parton, Harrington and Workington:

Barrow-in-Furness - Preston. Calling at Roose, Dalton, Ulverston, Cark, Kents Bank, Grange-over-Sands, Arnside, Silverdale, Carnforth, Lancaster and Preston. x1 16 seater will call at all the stations, x1 full size will be unable to call at Kents Bank, Arnside and Silverdale:

Corkickle - Barrow-in-Furness then set down as required to Preston. Calling at St Bees, Sellafield, Seascale, Drigg, Ravenglass for Eskdale, Bootle, Silecroft, Millom, Green Road, Foxfield, Kirkby-in-Furness, Askam and Barrow-in-Furness. And then as required at stations to Preston:

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycle’s, e-bikes and dogs (exc service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.
