Description
A fault with the signalling system between Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle means all lines are blocked. Trains running between these stations will be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until approximately 18:00.
Customer advice:
Network Rail are aware of the fault and engineers are now on site.
Northern tickets may be used at no additional costs on board any alternative Northern or TransPennine Express service via any reasonable route to complete your journey.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Rail replacement transport will operate as follows:
A coach operated by South Lakes will depart from Barrow-in-Furness at 13:20 and will call at all stations to Whitehaven
A coach operated by Workington Transport Heritage Trust will depart from Whitehaven at 13:20 and will call at all stations to Barrow-in-Furness
Rail replacement services are expected to be busier than usual as there are limited operators available in the region.
Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.
