The earlier points failure at Crewe has now been rectified, meaning that all lines at this station running northbound and southbound have been able to reopen.
As service returns to normal, trains running through this station may still be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Some services may still divert to continue their journey. Where trains do divert, Wilmslow and Crewe will not be served.
You may use your ticket on London Northwestern Railway services between Liverpool Lime Street and Stafford at no extra cost.
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
