Description

The earlier points failure at Crewe has now been rectified, meaning that all lines at this station running northbound and southbound have been able to reopen.

As service returns to normal, trains running through this station may still be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

Some services may still divert to continue their journey. Where trains do divert, Wilmslow and Crewe will not be served.

You may use your ticket on London Northwestern Railway services between Liverpool Lime Street and Stafford at no extra cost.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

London Northwestern Railway customer advice:

You may use your ticket, at no extra cost, on the following operators:

  • Avanti West Coast between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street, and between Crewe and Chester

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly (connections with East Midlands Railway and Northern between Manchester and Liverpool)

  • East Midlands Railway between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent, and between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street

  • Merseyrail between Chester and Liverpool Lime Street

  • Northern between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street

Replacement road transport has been requested to run to help with your journey. You will be updated once this has been confirmed.

You might want to consider postponing your journey until service returns to normal.
