Description

A fire next to the track between Crewe and Wilmslow means that all lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 17:30.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

You may use your ticket at no extra cost on Northern services between Wilmslow and Manchester Piccadilly - please note this operator is also affected by this disruption.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

If you no longer wish to travel because your train is delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Crewe and Sandbach in both directions.

Services between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly will terminate and start back from Sandbach.

What should I do?

Road replacement transport will be provided between Crewe and Sandbach.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport has been confirmed to run as follows:

  • At 15:35 from Sandbach to Crewe, calling at Crewe only operated by Bestway

  • At 16:00 from Crewe to Sandbach then setting down customers as required to Manchester Piccadilly operated by Bestway

Journey times may be extended by up to 45 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.

Transport for Wales customer advice:

You may use your ticket at no extra cost on the following services until 17:30:

  • CrossCountry between Bristol Parkway and Manchester Piccadilly via Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton

  • Northern via any reasonable route

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
