Disruption between Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent expected until 12:00

Description

A burst water main near the railway at Daisy Hill station means that all lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent may be cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 12:00.

Additional information:

Network Rail are currently on site working to resolve this issue.

Effect on service:

Train services are unable to run between Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent via Atherton (in both directions).

Daisy Hill, Hag Fold, Atherton, Walkden, Moorside and Swinton will not be served.

Services on the following routes will be diverted via Bolton where possible:

• between Wigan Wallgate / Headbolt Lane and Blackburn

• between Wigan Wallgate and Leeds

Services that run Southport and Stalybridge / Manchester Oxford Road via Bolton are NOT affected.

Alternative travel suggestions:

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport:

Road transport has been arranged to operate between Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent as follows below.

Please note however, that as a result of the road closures in place because of the burst water main, buses are currently unable to call at Daisy Hill station. Northern are currently in the process of liaising with the bus providers to request that replacement services stop at Westhoughton instead of Daisy Hill.

An update will be provided once these arrangements have been confirmed.

Wigan Wallgate to Salford Crescent

• 06:30 Two 16 seater minibuses will depart Wigan Wallgate calling at all stops to Salford Crescent. Operated by RSZ

• 07:30 One full size coach will depart Wigan Wallgate calling at all stops to Salford Crescent. Operated by Bestway

• 08:30 Two 16 seater minibuses will depart Wigan Wallgate calling at all stops to Salford Crescent. Operated by RSZ

Salford Crescent to Wigan Wallgate

• 06:50 One 16 seater minibus will depart Salford Crescent calling at all stops to Wigan Wallgate. Operated by Solomon

• 07:50 One full size coach will depart Salford Crescent calling at all stops to Wigan Wallgate. Operated by S Line

• 08:50 Two 16 seater minibuses will depart Salford Crescent calling at all stops to Wigan Wallgate. Operated by RSZ
