Description

A safety inspection of the track in the Dinsdale area means trains have to run at a reduced speed on the lines towards Middlesbrough. Trains running between Darlington and Middlesbrough may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 13:30.

What's happened?

Services between Darlington and Middlesbrough are currently being disrupted due to a safety inspection of the track.

Network Rail are currently on site and they have reopened the line towards Middlesbrough at reduced speed.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are now able to run from Darlington towards Middlesbrough at reduced speed. Services from Middlesbrough towards Darlington are able to run normally; however, trains may still be disrupted due to the displacement of trains and crews.

Northern services between Newcastle and Middlesbrough / Whitby are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport:
