Route(s) affected

Between Preston / Lancaster / Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle and between Millom and Workington

Description

A landslip has occurred between Drigg and Seascale, closing all lines running between these stations.

As a result, trains running between Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle will be revised to only run as far as Millom. All stations between Millom and Corkicle will not be served.

Northern are advising customers not to attempt to travel between Millom and Corkickle. The adverse weather conditions in the area means that no road transport will be provided.

This is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Services are unable to run north of Millom at this time. Services running between Whitehaven and Carlisle are not affected by this disruption.

To help with your journey, your ticket can be used at no extra cost on TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast services between Carlisle and Lancaster. Please note, services on the West Coast Mainline are subject to disruption following an earlier broken down freight train.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Please be advised that due to road conditions on the A595, flooding has closed parts of the road and the road transport supplier deems it unsafe to continue journeys. At this time, Northern are unable to provide replacement road transport. Road transport has been placed on standby pending a regular review of the weather conditions.
