Description

Lots of planned essential engineering works and upgrades have been taking place during the Easter weekend as Network Rail worked to improve the railway. Network Rail carry out essential improvement and engineering work across the rail network during this time as fewer people usually travel by train.

During the Easter weekend, major engineering work has been completed at the following locations:

  • COMPLETED: Milton Keynes Central - London Euston: The main lines between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston will be closed until the end of today for major improvement works. Services between Scotland, the north west of England, the west Midlands and London will terminate at Milton Keynes Central. Buses will run between Milton Keynes Central and Bedford / Potters Bar where you can catch a train to and from an alternative central London station

  • COMPLETED: Preston - Glasgow Central / Edinburgh: Improvement works will be significantly disrupting train services until Monday 6 April inclusive. Travelling between these stations may require using replacement buses for part or all of your journey

  • COMPLETED: London Waterloo: A reduced train service will operate between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction until Monday 6 April inclusive while engineers carry out vital upgrade work. You may need to change trains at Clapham Junction for services to and from London Waterloo. Queenstown Road (Battersea) station will be closed throughout

Other significant engineering work has been completed in the Southampton area, to and from Cambridge, at London Fenchurch Street, and through Margate in Kent.
