Description
All lines have now reopened following an earlier broken down train between Wigan Wallgate and Southport. Trains running between these stations may continue to be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Train services between Wigan Wallgate and Southport in both directions are being disrupted and are subject to short notice delays and cancellations.
The first service expected to call at all stations between Wigan Wallgate and Southport will be the 18:52 Stalybridge to Southport services and the first service from Southport to Wigan Wallgate is expected to be the 21:03 Southport to Manchester Oxford Road.
What should I do?
You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.
You can also use your Northern ticket at no extra cost on Merseyrail services between Liverpool stations and Southport until the end of the day.
