Description

A person has been hit by a train in the Guildford area. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between Guildford and Reigate / Havant are closed. Trains may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 70 minutes, or revised.

This is expected to cause major disruption until 13:00.

Great Western Railway customer advice:

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following services:

• Southern and Thameslink via any reasonable route

• Elizabeth line between Reading and Farringdon

• Thameslink between Farringdon and Gatwick Airport

If you are travelling to / from Gatwick Airport, you should use your ticket to travel at no extra cost on Elizabeth line trains between Reading and Farringdon, and change for a Thameslink train between Farringdon and Gatwick Airport.

If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.

South Western Railway customer advice:

In order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the tracks has been switched off in the affected area. At this time we don't know when the lines between Guildford and Farncombe are expected to reopen.

South Local Services:

• All lines between Guildford and Farncombe are currently blocked to allow the emergency services access to the track. As a result, the following alterations will be necessary:

  • Trains running between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour and London Waterloo via Guildford will be cancelled or will divert via Eastleigh

  • Stopping services running between London Waterloo and Haslemere will now start / finish their journeys at Guildford

• You should allow extra time for your journey and continue to check station boards and the South Western Railway website for the latest service updates

• South Western Railway have alternative transport in place which is calling at all stations between Guildford and Havant. Please be aware that these services are not running to a timetable

• If you're looking to travel between Guildford and Havant and you're at a station between Hilsea and Portsmouth Harbour, please use Southern Railway services to travel to Havant for onward travel via rail replacement transport

• Southern services between London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour in both directions.

Bus services:

• First Berkshire & the Thames Valley route Rail Air 2 between Woking and Guildford
