Hot weather will impact Great Western Railway services on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August

Description

The Met Office are forecasting that temperatures will be above average for the time of year this week, with another heatwave anticipated across England and Wales.

Some areas, particularly in southern England and Wales, may see temperatures peaking as high as 38°C midweek. An amber weather warning is in place for extreme heat across parts of central England for Thursday.

This will disrupt routes operated by Great Western Railway.

Please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey.

Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August:

Between 14:00 and 16:00 some services will be revised to run non-stop between London Paddington and Reading.

Advice if you are travelling in the hot weather:

The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle. Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations.

Please also carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and at some other larger stations.

If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.
