Description

A safety inspection of the track between Middlesbrough and Newcastle means the lines via Hartlepool are blocked.

Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted. All stations between Stockton and Heworth will not be served.

This disruption is expected until 10:30.

Effect on service:

Services are unable to run between Middlesbrough and Newcastle via Hartlepool in this direction only.

Alternative travel suggestions:

Services at Newcastle, heading towards Middlesbrough via Hartlepool are NOT affected.

Passengers at Sunderland can travel on the Tyne & Wear Metro towards Newcastle.

Ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.
